Maryville, Tennessee is a smaller city of about 32,000 that currently holds the county seat in Blount County, Tennessee. Travelers and residents often recall Maryville as a pleasant destination, located at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains, far enough from tourist destinations to remain quiet and peaceful yet near enough to some of the state’s most popular attractions like Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, and of course the Great Smoky Mountains themselves.
Anybody who has been involved in the addiction recovery scene, however, will remember Maryville much differently. Instead, they will recognize it as a city that’s seated in the center of Blount County, one of the eleven counties that make up the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Maryville, TN is no stranger to addiction. As a part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area, Maryville has much higher rates than average in regard to addiction, alcoholism, and prescription drug dispensation. As such, treatment centers in the area are more than familiar with treating just about every kind of drug addiction that medical science has approached.
This means that you’ll have no problem finding treatment for:
If you’re going to be attending a drug or alcohol rehab program it’s often recommended that you go to detox first. Detox programs allow you to get rid of the actual drugs in your system and to go through the process of withdrawal that often accompanies long-term addictions and physical dependencies.
In the case of certain drugs, detox is absolutely necessary prior to attending treatment. Alcohol, for example, is one of the most dangerous drugs available, even when compared to illicit street drugs. Not only does it impair your behavior during the actual period that you’re intoxicated, but withdrawal from alcohol can send your nervous system into shock and cause deadly seizures.
Before you think about going straight to treatment, make sure that you discuss the possibility or need for going to detox. You may be surprised to learn that some of the most commonly abused drugs (benzodiazepines, alcohol, barbiturates, gabapentinoids) are actually some of the most deadly and dangerous to withdraw from!
Our facility is equipped and experienced treating both teens and adults with addictions of all sorts. While there’s no reason to worry about any legal issues emerging due to age—we follow strict privacy policies and ensure that recovery is the main priority—it’s true that teens may require and benefit from different treatment methods than adults.
In our teen programs, we place additional focus on developing self-awareness and accountability. This helps to encourage teens to recognize the impact of their actions and behaviors on their lifestyles and the lives of others.
The focus of the therapeutic modalities, which will vary depending on the needs of the individual, will also be reflective of their age. For example, younger people may need to learn appropriate socialization skills to integrate into the working world whereas adults may already be familiar with such social roles and, instead, need to focus on core coping mechanisms.
Another aspect of treatment that proves especially effective for treatment involving teens and young adults is Adventure Therapy. Adventure Therapy involves going on exciting day trips to participate in activities that produce a sensation of adventure and adrenaline! This helps to prime the body’s nervous system and brain into producing chemicals that it has become dependent on drugs for producing.
There are many different types of treatment programs that are offered for people struggling from drug and alcohol addiction. Programs vary in intensity and duration, and are prescribed to people depending on the severity of their addiction.
Here are some examples of the many different options available at the New Hope Healthcare treatment facility.
Outpatient rehab is a good first line of defense for anybody who is struggling with a mild to moderate addiction. If you’ve never had a problem with addiction before, or if you’ve never attended a rehab treatment, outpatient may be a good place to start.
Outpatient, at the most basic level, allows the most freedoms out of any other type of withdrawal. You need only be present at the facility when you have a meeting scheduled. You can stay for longer if you’d like, perhaps attend non-scheduled meetings if you’d like to improve your progress, but it’s not necessary and sometimes not allowed.
IOP programs are more demanding than regular outpatient programs, often requiring up to 30 hours per week of commitment to counseling and coaching. Clients usually have to agree to participate in programs for at least a couple of months.
You’re still able to maintain your regular schedule, though: our professionals can work around that. The programs at an IOP are less rigorous than those of a PHP and thus more affordable.
Evening IOP is one of our options available for professionals or students who cannot afford to interrupt their daily schedule. This program allows you to develop a schedule entirely in the evenings so that your regular 9-5 schedule isn’t affected.
Another option for accessing intensive outpatient rehab is through virtual IOP. In recent years studies have shown that virtual therapy and mental health treatments are just as effective as in-person, face-to-face sessions. Rehab is no exception. Virtual IOP allows you to engage in an intensive outpatient program without even setting foot in the same city as the rehab facility itself!
This option isn’t just great for people with a busy schedule, it’s good for people with physical or mental disabilities who can’t access the facility. It’s also good for people who live in rural locations and lack the necessary means to travel to the rehab center.
Inpatient rehab programs require a full commitment of your time. If you intend to keep your job, you’ll have to work something out with your employer or your clients so that they can make space for your time off, because you’ll be committing yourself to the facility for the entire duration of the program. This can be anywhere from 30 to 60 or 90 days.
Inpatient rehab is the best way for people with serious addictions to overcome their problems. You’ll be surrounded by folks who are also involved in addiction recovery, whether they be patients in recovery themselves or professionals assisting those in recovery. Either way, your focus will be on recovery non-stop which will really help to fast-forward your recovery.
PHP programs are designed to function as a sort of halfway point between inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab. Typically courses run throughout most of the day. Patients are still allowed to return home in the evenings and on weekends, but the more stringent demands and scheduling makes this option more effective for people with serious addictions.
Medication assisted treatment programs are actually extremely common. They most often provide an option for people addicted to opioid narcotics to return to a stable lifestyle, even though the medication that they’re prescribed will continue their dependence on the opioid narcotic. It’s important that patients are made aware of this reality, and that their treatment providers actively work to help them lower their dose of medication alongside their progression in the program.
There are several other unique treatment programs and styles that we offer. We really want to ensure that everybody has their needs met, regardless of their spiritual beliefs, gender identity, age, or other factors.
Faith-based treatments will accommodate patients who have specific faith-based restrictions or requirements. The typical 12-Step Program can easily be applied to a biblical, Christian context. But this doesn’t suit everybody. In fact, many opt for a more strictly non-faith-based treatment alternative like S.M.A.R.T. Recovery.
That said, we do offer Biblical-Focused Group Therapy, and if you come from another spiritual or religious background you can ask us to connect you with a therapist who shares a similar background to more closely meet your spiritual needs.
Drug court programs can vary in what they actually provide since the circumstances leading each individual into such a program are always unique. Generally, people end up in a drug court program after being accused of a crime but prior to actually being convicted.
If the problem is determined to have been drug-related, then the offender might be referred to drug court and given a chance to complete a recovery program at a facility like California Prime. Successful completion of the program could lead to the dismissal of charges.
Drug court programs have numerous requirements that other programs don’t, such as random and regular drug tests, regular appearances in court, rewards for remaining consistent with your goals (or sanctions in case of failure), assistance finding employment, and establishing a healthy social circle, and so on.
Sometimes, working professionals need to go through treatment in relative secrecy due to close-minded employers or the need to maintain a certain reputation. We are willing to work with professionals or students who are concerned about their ability to disclose the state of their recovery to their superiors openly.
Most workplaces have some sort of guidelines in place that allow people who develop addictions to maintain their position as long as they indicate their commitment to getting sober. If a professional needs an inpatient rehab program, problems present themselves immediately: an important cog in a large corporate machine cannot simply walk away from duty for 30+ days.
Fortunately, options like virtual therapy and keeping patients in remote areas removed from temptation, but not too far removed from work, to proceed with both treatment and their job.
Women’s rehab is a treatment program offered for women who may be suffering from trauma resulting from the behavior or actions of men. Or, they may simply prefer to work in the company of other women. In either case, women’s rehab offers a safe haven for females who feel that they can work towards their goals more efficiently when surrounded by other women.
Therapy for addiction follows a similar basic formula no matter where you are. You’re going to be presented with a combination of some form of therapy (or several types) and made to attend several in-person meetings, generally a combination of group meetings as well as one-on-one face-to-face meetings.
Here is a quick example of the way that our recovery process works.
The foundation of all of our programs rests upon the belief that most addictions come part-and-parcel with some other form of mental health issue. It is very rare that people who are completely happy, healthy, and at peace with themselves will develop a drug addiction. As such, we put in a great deal of time and effort into uncovering the root issues that result in drug addiction. Addiction, more often than not, is a form of self-medication.
Some of the disorders that we help patients understand and overcome alongside their addictions include:
There are dozens, perhaps hundreds, of different kinds of therapy. Therapy is any process that helps a patient willfully learn more about themselves and improve upon the health and function of their psyche. These are some of the therapeutic approaches that we have deemed most useful for improving addiction.
Throughout this process, you will discover a lot about yourself. Most importantly, you’ll learn all about the different ways that your addiction is connected to your thoughts, beliefs, actions, and feelings.
Group meetings are regular occurrences at rehab centers. Most group meetings follow a similar format as the original Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings, which includes the 12-Step Program, although this is not always the case. As discussed above, not all people agree with the 12-Step philosophy and cannot progress effectively in such programs.
Some groups are facilitated by a group leader; others are more organic and act simply as a container for recovering individuals from engaging with one another and helping to support each other.
In either case you’re likely to learn a lot of different things about addiction discussing it firsthand with people who have been through it than you are from studying a textbook.
Holistic treatments acknowledge that the mind, body, and spirit are all equally important components that make up your identity. Treating one aspect of your ailment without acknowledging the rest is ineffective because we work as integrated systems. Holistic practices are developed under this premise and inherently acknowledge the interrelated network of individual parts that make up the human being.
Like drugs, holistic practices all produce a positive change in mindset and well-being. Unlike drugs, they’re much more sustainable, and if you’re particularly fond of one holistic practice you can make a goal of becoming a practitioner to sustain yourself financially!
There are all sorts of holistic treatments and lifestyle changes that will be encouraged during your time here. These practices can, and should, be continued following the completion of your program. They can provide a replacement for the empty time and space that will be freed up in the absence of addictive behaviors.
Some examples of holistic treatments employed during addiction rehab include:
