Buddy Clay

Chief Executive Officer

Buddy has worked in the mental health field for over ten years. He started his career with the top adolescent program in the country, giving him a solid foundation for his career path. Buddy has been involved in every avenue of treatment, from behavioral tech, admissions, marketing, counselor, and program director. This all laid the groundwork for him to know what it takes to open a successful program of his own. Buddy’s fundamental knowledge of successful treatment centers, as well as his passion to help others, has fueled his desire to help launch New Hope Healthcare Institute. Buddy truly believes the client comes first and does his part to make sure everyone who enters the program has his or her needs met. Buddy’s greatest mental health influences come from the father of Positive Psychology, Martin Seligman, as well as the author of Man’s Search for Meaning, Viktor Frankl. Buddy utilizes as many experiential practices as possible and is an enthusiastic advocate of adventure therapy, which he frequently incorporates with New Hope programming. In his free time he spends time outdoors with his family, enjoying all the beauty that Knoxville has to offer.

Dr. Robin Campbell

Clinical director - lmft, phd

Robin has been a therapist, small group practice owner, and single practitioner for over 20 years. She has extensive training in marital and family therapy, grief counseling, cognitive therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and Couples with Trauma and Addiction issues; she also has experience with Celebrate Recovery which started under Pastor Rick Warren. Additionally, she has worked for the department of corrections for incarcerated drug offenders, where she conducted individual counseling and group 12-Step meetings. Robin believes that all people deserve honesty, respect and to be treated with dignity. She believes that most people truly want to be the best versions of themselves. Her beliefs in how we change are founded on this premise. How our experiences and circumstances enhance or hinder our ability to achieve this is what therapy/treatment is all about. She believes the art of psychotherapy is guidance for healing of the soul. Robin’s years of practice management as sole practitioner and group therapist practice has required her to blend her therapy skills with business skills. She was a management consultant, training managers and supervisors before she became a therapist. As owner of a small group practice, she is versed in working with insurance companies from negotiating contracts through billing and meeting treatment outcomes. She supervised all seven of the therapists in her group practice from internship through licensure and beyond. When not working, she enjoys life with her husband, her daughter and son-in-law and their seven children here in Knoxville.

Andy Lawson

Lead Therapist

My name is Andy Lawson. I love good food, good books, and good company. I’m a Tennessee native and spend most of my free time with my family and two goofy dogs. I have worked in mental health for the past ten years in roles spanning: crisis intervention, trauma-informed education, restorative practice, family counseling, and addictions counseling. My approach to recovery is whole-person, skills-focused, and culturally competent. I don’t believe in lost causes. If you’re still alive, there’s still hope.

Jen is the Chief Marketing Officer and has a background with years of experience working in business development in the behavioral health treatment industry. Her own recovery journey began in the summer of 2014, which led her to want to take part in the field that ultimately saved her life. Jen loves to help those that are struggling in any way possible, and enjoys ongoing substance abuse and mental health training to supplement her studies at the University of Miami. She aims to share the freedom and happiness she has found in her own recovery so she may help others to have hope that change is possible.

Misty Pearson

In her spare time, you can find Misty with her family, at a UT football game watching her beloved Vols play, or hiking in the mountains. Misty has B.S. in Organizational MGMT from Tusculum College and volunteers at Metro Drug Coalition, TDOCbi
